Caroline Mulders

Caroline Mulders (1971) was born in Tiel and after many wanderings ended up on the Sallandse Heuvelrug. In 1993 she completed the Fashion Academy Montaigne in Amsterdam where she discovered the basics of painting and pen drawing. After working as a freelance styling & fashion designer, she founded the successful GrachtenAtelier in Utrecht with her twin sister Jacqueline and in 2011 also the atmospheric GrachtenGalerie. In her spare time Caroline focuses on her artistic talents. Caroline did not get her artistic talent from a stranger; her grandmother has been collection works by well-know experts for years and has introduces her to art from an early age. Her main subject these days are the blossoms of trees and the flowers of shrubs. They keep her busy and fascinate her: so much beauty in gnarled branches, so much softness in the solid wood. They are miracles of early life that she manages to capture on the canvas with brush and brush, with love and patience. Her expressively painted strong trees with blossoms carry an exuberant, almost voluptuous spring atmosphere: the flowers demand fertilization. The photos Caroline takes of the blossoming trees show a stilled life force: people feel and know that those delicate blossoms are the harbingers of delicious fruits.
