“It’s best to be creative when you’re together.” – The power of the pair

Ien Sluyters (1973) and Marjon Deul (1966) jointly form Main Artists. They both studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, Belgium. The strength of the two is clearly visible in their work. As a passionate duo they work together on steel sculptures, sculptures, clay and assembly, continuously challenging and inspiring each other. Again and again they experiment with different types of material, techniques and starting angles.

In the studio, Ien and Marjon, concealed under a leather apron and welding goggles, are bent over the steel. The shower of sparks splashes into the space and immovable material is transformed into a recognizable, stylized form. Many small pieces of steel are freely and by order connected into one whole, in the form of a story, figure or portrait. The steel wall sculptures are very contrasting due to the material. They enter the room from the wall and are enriched by a spectacle of shadows, created by natural or artificial light. As a result, the work invites you to play. The options are endless.
