Serge de Vries

Serge de Vries (1968), based in Apeldoorn, completed his education at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht in 1995. He paints everyday things. Wet on wet, with oil paint.

Despite the realism in his work, Serge’s aim is not to paint photographically. “I just want you to see the brushstrokes. That’s what I’m trying to send you with. Draw your attention to that part of my work that is important to me. That part gets a little more attention than the rest. With just a little more detail.”

Besides ordinary things, Serge paints spaces and landscapes. He also makes portraits, also on commission.
