The red rose, as a sign of your love for the recipient, is well known for its symbolism. However, there are numerous flowers that have symbolic value.
In the Middle Ages, but also in periods before that, much value was attached to symbolism. In the present time, the use of that symbolism is in danger of being lost by modern means of communication. In these works of art, the hanakatoba, the floriography, is put back in the spotlight.
