Over the years, Joep Verheijden has been closely involved in the development and manufacture of objects by artists who are nationally and sometimes internationally known. Gradually, he developed the urge to enter the artistic path himself. As a young boy he already harbored a fascination for everything that lives and moves, making animal sculptures is a logical consequence. He likes to make animals that have a strong appearance and are not always cuddly at first glance. “The skin and color are very decisive. For example, the smoothness and warm color that give a mirror carp strength. Or the whimsical texture of a lobster leg. For me it is a challenge to get started artistically with that.”
